Innovation and Creativity – The Art of Management

EFQM Forum — 4–6 October 2010 — Bilbao, Spain

The EFQM Forum 2010 takes Innovation and Creativity as its theme and where better to start the discussions on this subject than with a welcome reception in the Award winning Guggenheim Museum Bilbao on the Monday evening.

Throughout the centuries, Artists have “shaken the molecules” and challenged the accepted techniques of the day.

Join us in the Guggenheim on the Monday evening and witness the innovation and creativity of artists such as Anish Kapoor. You may not love his creative ideas on Art but you cannot ignore them.

So to with the Art of Management. Over the decades there have been several watersheds in management thinking, interventions into the current “how we do things here” mind-sets.

For example, EFQM, when it first launched the EFQM Excellence Model in Q4/1991, caused shock waves around Europe for daring to include a criterion called “Impact on Society.”

Nowadays can you imagine any organisation ignoring such an important topic? Yesterday’s shock wave is today’s norm.

On the subject of “shaking the molecules”, Einstein, the star of the front page of the Forum brochure knew a thing or two about this topic didn’t he!

Throughout the 3 days of the Forum, we hope to “shake the molecules” of the Forum participants as they have the opportunity to learn about recipes for effective innovation and gain inspiration on new ways of working as well as enjoy the emotional connection of celebrating alongside successful organisations.

Those of you who have been attendees at previous EFQM Forums will know that we have an enviable track record of bringing to our audience Keynote Speakers who, in their own way, shake the molecules.

So, keeping with our tradition of providing provocative speakers, we are delighted to announce that this year’s Forum programme will feature the following keynote speakers:

  • Lotfi El-Ghandouri from the Cirque du Soleil
  • Antonella Broglia from Infonomia
  • Harry West, CEO and Chief Innovation Officer, CONTINUUM

Those of you who attended the Forum in Brussels last year will remember the excellent contributions from James Bellini and we are delighted to announce that he will join us once again as our Forum Master of Ceremonies.

The parallel sessions will be your opportunity to hear from:

  • Two senior executives from Trimo in an interactive session on the challenges and benefits of Open Innovation. Is it a Reality or a Myth?
  • Mondragon, Spain and EEKOO, Finland as two of their senior executives discuss their shared experiences in Innovation as an enabler for employment generation and regional development”.
  • EiTB, Spain, Strix, Great Britain and a third speaker still to be finalised at this time, who, in a Panel debate moderated by one of EiTB’s media journalists, will discuss Innovation and Creativity from significantly different perspectives.
  • And finally, EFQM, with the support of the Wiki group it established to support the work, will present the updated EFQM Framework for Innovation, explain the underlying principles and look to engage the audience in an interactive discussion on the content of the Framework.

The panel debate, scheduled on the last day, will include top executives from four organisations from Europe and beyond : Iberdrola (Spain), IBM (Spain), Infosys Technology (India) and a member of the EFQM Governing Board.

We take this opportunity to encourage you to participate in the EFQM Forum at the beginning of October in Bilbao. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Bilbao!
