GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM BILBAO
Avenida Abandoibarra, 2, 48001 Bilbao - Spain
The doors will open at 19.30 and the Welcome Reception will start at 20.00. The aim of this reception is to provide each participant with an opportunity to begin networking and, inspired by the works of art surrounding the event, to create a mindset for two days of “Open Innovation”. Participants will be welcomed by the Mayor of Bilbao. James Bellini will take a few minutes to set up the scene for the whole Forum programme, providing a short introduction on the theme of Innovation and Creativity.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao was designed by the North American architect Frank O. Gehry, and represents a magnificent example of the most ground breaking architecture to have come out of the 20th century. The building itself is an innovatively designed architectural landmark that creates a seductive backdrop for the exhibition of contemporary art.
It truly represents the ideal location for us to begin debating the 2010 Forum Theme of Innovation & Creativity.

Restaurant Event at Zortziko Restaurant
Saturday 2nd October 2010, 20:00
Zortziko Restaurant

The Kitchen of Zortziko: own style
The Zortziko kitchen, with Daniel Garcia at the helm, has a team of young chefs who are experienced, eager and in constant evolution. The team's foundations are solid and its main objectives are technique, thought, the produce, the flavours and the final sensation. The team defends its own ideas, does not accept old or new dogmas but gathers together from each period those that they adapt to their philosophy to come up with its own style.
Activities in the Daniel Garcia Cookery Classroom
In the Daniel Garcia Cookery Classroom courses and exhibitions are given by Daniel Garcia and his staff. There are themed courses of various types, from 2 hours to various days in length.
Cookery exhibitions with tasting of the dishes prepared is an enjoyable and essential part of the process. For example, a dish is prepared, served in small portions and tasted by the participants, at the same time a brief discussion is held so the participants have the opportunity to give their opinions and offer ideas.
Show Cooking
The group will make their own dishes following Daniel García´s instructions which they will then be tasted by the participants. Each member of the group will be provided with aprons. There are simple dishes which are partly elaborated and only need to be presented. The activities are not difficult and the participants will not need to use knives or other risky kitchen utensils. The dishes made by the group will be the menu´s starter and afterwards there will be a main course (meat or fish) and a dessert.
The Daniel García Cookery Classroom
Avant-garde style. This is a multi-purpose room that has the latest technology for the study and celebration of cookery exhibitions, courses, wine tasting, union menus, presentations of products, dining for groups etc. This room is ideal for organisations that wish to either give incentives to their staff or wish to award clients with a 'union dinner', a cookery course or exhibition.
As a multi-purpose room, it is not only a space where a variety of activities can be held, it can also be converted into an extra room for Zortziko to provide dining space. The 'union dinners' feature a perfect combination of dishes and wines. Another way of enjoying a meal in an entertaining and dynamic way.

RIOJA ALAVESA + WINERIES (FULL DAY)
Transfer from Bilbao to Rioja alavesa area (1 hr 30 min), in the southernmost part of the Basque Country. Soon, you'll be in the 'Lands of Rioja‘ where the region's internationally renowned wines are produced. The scenery changes, becoming flatter and less green, before opening up to vast areas of vineyards.
Laguardia: The Medieval fortified town of Laguardia is the central point of the La Rioja Alavesa wine region. Inside the town, the original layout can be appreciated and, as you stroll with your guide, you'll see the walls, ramparts, towers and fortified gateways. Marvel at the original painted facade of the 14th-century Gothic gateway during a visit to the church of Santa Maria de los Reyes.
Wineries: The wines of the Rioja Alavesa enjoy a well-earned international reputation. The quality of its wines is largely due to a number of different factors including its alluvial marl soil, which allows the vines to absorb the moisture they need. In the Rioja Alavesa, visitors can sample wines processed in medieval caves or against a background of the spectacular modernist design of some of the new wineries.
Winery visits for this tour: A traditional surrounded winery in the same village with wine tasting + a modern design winery nearby with riojan lunch included. Proposed wineries : Fabulista in Laguardia with wine tasting and Baigorri in Samaniego with lunch.

SAN SEBASTIAN AND MUSEUM CHILLIDA LEKU (FULL DAY)
San Sebastian (1 hr 15 min from Bilbao), or Donostia, was made popular in 1886 by Queen Regent Maria Cristina and has been popular with Spanish aristocracy ever since. It is now a relaxed family resort and home of an International Film Festival every September. You'll have the opportunity to see several buildings of enormous architectural and historical interest including the Cathedral of the Buen Pastor and the Town Hall, the Palace and Gardens of Miramar built by Queen Maria Cristina, the Theatre and the luxury hotel named after the Queen. Mount Igeldo Viewpoint: Admire the city's picture-postcard setting and its oyster-shaped bay of La Concha, protected by Mount Urgull and Mount Igeldo and presided over by the Isle of Santa Clara. Old Quarter: The old town is full of character and a perfect place for strolling around, a series of shops, bars, restaurants and squares.
Chillida Leku (nearby San Sebastian) : Visit to Chillida- Leku – Sculpture open air museum. Chillida-Leku is the result of one of the artist’s lifelong dreams: to create a space for his work where it could be a permanent display. In fact, Chillida-Leku is not only a place to admire art, but also a sculpture in itself, a work of art that lends itself perfectly to the artist’s vision of shape, space and time. The large-scale pieces, made mostly of iron and granite, are set amongst beech trees, oaks and magnolias, creating a magical natural wonderland. Eduardo Chillida (San Sebastian, 1926-2002) is one of the most famous Basque artists renowned all over the world.
Optional lunch in a cider house. It is one of San Sebastian’s restaurants that have recreated in its interior the atmosphere of a typical Basque “Sagardotegi” (a Cider House). The traditional menu includes: cod-fish omelette, fried cod , T-bone steaks, cheese with quince preserve and walnuts. And of course, you can drink all the cider you want directly from the barrel. Casual place with good quality products.
